Who's on Top?

Las Vegas Business Press released its picks for the "Top 10 Lawyers of Southern Nevada's business community." According to LVBP, its "choices were made through a vigorous culling of sources both inside and outside the area's close-knit legal community." However, for some reason, those who won last year were ineligible for this year's "honor." Whatever ... here's the list:
Congratulations to all!

  1. Can you provide a link to last year's list for comparison? Thanks.

  2. Way to go, people who make (and deserve) way more money than me.

  4. Should include a "Trust & Estate" and a "Tax" category

  5. 10:58, agreed. Those "Trust & Estate" lawyers always seem to be forgotten. I know Steve Oshins at Oshins & Associates and a few of the other T&E lawyers at thst firm should be on the list if they'd actually recognize that category.

  6. I agree with the last two comments re: T&E.

  7. Oh you corporate bankruptcy hacks. How I loathe you.

  8. seems like the T&E statements as to which T&E Attorneys should have been nominated, seem to be pretty name specific as to naming CERTAIN attorneys. Why not just say that there should have been a T&E category?

  9. I was the one who named who I thought was obvious. I interviewed with them a few years ago, but didn't get the job (and switched to litigation and like that better anyway). But, yeah, generally T&E should be a category. That's what I meant.

  10. Trust and Estate goes to Solomon Dwiggins & Freer, easily. Steve Oshins has nothing on Mark Solomon.

  11. I work for one of the top family law firms, so I see which firms generally doing the trusts for our wealthiest clients. The Oshins & Associates firm and the Burr firm definitely do the most. After that, we get alot from the large firms (Lionel Sawyer, Kummer Kaempfer, Alverson Taylor and a few others) and then no other firms other than a few other large firms stand out in my mind.

  12. Solomon Dwiggins & Freer is a good probate and trust litigation firm, but I don't know that they do much estate planning. So it depends on how you define T&E.

  13. The Best Lawyers in America book lists Jeffrey L. Burr, Richard A. Oshins, Steven J. Oshins and Layne T. Rushforth as the best T&E lawyers in Las Vegas. I don't know any of them, I haven't even heard of any of them, but I was curious and looked it up.

  14. The pick for top IP attorney is humorous.

  15. Gee, do you find the IP winner humorous because she screwed up and lost the Wynn account for her firm? Go figure.

  16. @ 3:36

That sounds like an interesting story, care to elaborate?

  17. 3:36 She's about as bright as her "teacher" who happens to be mentioned in LV Business Press article. But GT is BIG LAW, so they must be good!?!?

  19. It's unfortunate that individuals claim to be war heroes in order to attain financial gain. Reporters should always check the actual military records whenever a person claims to be a war hero.
