Santoro Driggs Merger Rumor Update

LATEST UPDATE: An attorney high up the Santoro Driggs chain says the firm has never received a phone call from Latham and Watkins. Which means a lowly associate at the firm is spreading rumors of a merger and someone in the Santoro hierarchy is saying no. So until we hear further rumblings, we'll assume the merger rumor was a bad lead.

Original post:
The latest merger rumor in the valley is that Santoro, Driggs, Walch, Kearney, Holley & Thompson may be the next local firm to jump on board with a larger firm.

It's still just a rumor, but word is that global law firm Latham & Watkins (over 1,500 attorneys firm-wide according to their Martindale page) is looking to open a Vegas office by purchasing Santoro Driggs.
If anyone in Santoro Driggs can provide details, let us know in the comments section or by emailing nevadalegal@gmail.com.

  1. Can you cite a source for this? Is it being discussed on the web or is there an inside voice?

  2. Right now I have the information second hand.

A Santoro Driggs attorney shared it with my source. I was told the deal is just in the discussion stage right now.

  3. I guess that only leaves the likes of Lionel Sawyer and Jones Vargas left of the powerhouses and only a handful of the secondary firms like Gordon, Kolesar, and Jolley?

Will Lionel and Jones' deep political connections let them weather the pressure? Do the other firms even have a chance?

  4. Lionel and Jones have deep political connections? To what extent? What decade are we talking about? Raggio is out in 6 even if he pulls off the reelection bid this Fall. Rumor has it LSC is struggling and Jones is going through the motions of a lot of "ad buys" to try and show it is in a position of power, when in fact business is a bit stagnant over there as well. As for the Santoro/Latham merger rumors -- just that, rumors based upon inside sources.

  5. Raggio out in 6, don't you mean 4 or less? That's a big "if" for pulling off the re-election! Maybe his opponent is a bit outspoken, but watch out old guard!
