Magic Number Note--10 or more attorneys
Now includes the Snell & Wilmer billables explanation (confirmed by someone in office).
Ok. So there have been a number of comments about how many of the top magic number firms only have 2-3 attorneys in Vegas and shouldn't be on the list. The magic number list is to give the readers a collection of any and all salary/billable information out there about Vegas firms.
So, here is an abbreviated list of magic numbers (known by the blog) for the firms with more than 10 attorneys:

FYI, Ballard Spahr as 12 attorneys.
ReplyDeleteHollard and Hart has 11 attorneys if you count its 2 stall attorneys.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback. Changes have been made.
ReplyDeleteMcCormick Barstow is actually at $80K to start and 1750 billables.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the McCormick Barstow tip. Changes made.
ReplyDeleteSnell & Wilmer is 40 attorneys and 1800 is the minimum to get a bonus. We would love to see 2000 hours out of associates
ReplyDeleteCan anyone confirm the Snell & Wilmer change in minimum billables?
ReplyDeleteHR at S&W filled out the 2008 NALP form listing 2000 minimum billables.
I'd like some more feedback before making a change.
Snell raised its 1st year salary to 120K
ReplyDeleteS&W info updated.
ReplyDeletethe starting salary is somewhat misleading if you do not consider at least the two most expensive fringe benefits, ie health insurance and 401k. health coverage for a first year associate and family costs $1,150 per month. 401 contributions can range up to 100% matching. so a staring salary of $80,000, plus a fully matching 401k is an additional 8,000, added is health at 12 months x 1,150 for 13,800, resulting in a total compensation package of $101,800.
ReplyDeletePayne & Fears starts at $125k, not $110 k. The information regarding billables is correct.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in seeing what the yearly raises are after the first year. I understand the range is pretty big, anywhere from a couple thousand at some firms to $15k at others.
ReplyDeleteAll updates made. Thanks for the tips. If any of you are at these firms, you might want to tell the Recruiter to contact NALP and fix the 2008 numbers.
ReplyDeleteLewis & Roca also is 120 effective September.
ReplyDeleteuh, snell's minimum is definitely not 1800.
ReplyDeleteI have an email into Snell & Wilmer asking for confirmation on the reduction from 2000 to 1800 billable hours. However, until I get some concrete info, we're gonna go with 2000 billables--their number according to NALP.
