Congratulations to the new Esquires of Nevada.The Nevada Bar Assoc. has posted the list of those who passed the Feb. 2008 bar exam. Apparently, the pass rate was only 57%, so well done to the little over half of applicants who passed.
The Nevada Supreme Court has scheduled a bar admission ceremony for Monday, May 5. Chief Justice Gibbons will be administering the oath of attorney in Carson City.
anyone know what boyd's passage rate was? I know it has been going up but I'm curious given the low rate of the February exam. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteFirst off - Congratulations for everyone who passed! Boyd Law has a posting showing that out of the 22 Boyd Law School first-time takers, 17 passed for a pass rate of 77%. A bit below the July Bar's 85% pass rate for Boyd first-time takers - but hey, there were only 22 out of nearly 300 something total (i.e. the large majority were re-takers from July or prior Bars or attorneys/students coming in from out-of-state)

I understand that since the NV Bar had to inconvenience the non-southern Nevada Bar exam takers by only having the Bar exam in Las Vegas in February - that maybe we should inconvenience the southern Nevada admittees by making them go up to Carson City if they want to participate in the 'official' swearing-in ceremony.
Just about every person that I know who took the Bar in Feb 2008 are being sworn in by judges here in Las Vegas or simply being sworn in by a notary public in their office.
There are Nevada Supreme Court Justices here in Las Vegas - I just don't see why they are only having one 'official' swearing in ceremony when the large majority of new admittees are down here.
Related to the second posting above, there were only 11 bar exam takers that graduated from Boyd Law in December 2007 who took the exam the rest were those that took other state's Bar exams the first time and passed/failed then decided to take the NV one - and a few that skipped the July exam to take the Feb exam for various reasons.
ReplyDeleteOut of those 11 takers, 9 passed, so the December 2007 graduating class had an 81.8% pass rate. I believe the July 2007 graduating class had an 85% pass rate so they appear to be holding steady.
