Boyd has put up a nice little posting for Colleen. In it, she states her reason for diving head-first into the bowels of hell:
"I believe a law degree will enhance my understanding of the people and the issues I cover."There's her first mistake: Thinking law school will "enhance her understanding" of anything.
We wish you luck, Colleen. Just in case you're considering ditching journalism to pursue a career as an attorney, here's some reading material for you.
(Thanks, tipster!)
If her goal is to go in the direction of a legal analyst talking head on a cable news channel, then a law degree will get her the degree 'cred' she needs. The general public doesn't seem to put as much credibility behind non-lawyers interpreting legal issues when their competition have law degrees.
ReplyDeleteWill it help her investigative journalism? Probably not much.
She can be a District Court Judge - doesn't one of our illustriuous judicial geniuses have about the same qualifications?
ReplyDeleteIt will give her an understanding of pain and suffering. Of course, hitting her own hand with a hammer could do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI may be wrong but I think she has very young twin daughters. Good luck finding a firm in this town that is open-minded to the demands of mothers of small children.

ReplyDeletePlease. She currently works one of the busiest jobs in the city AND is taking on law school. She'll be fine.
Please. Boyd isn't even a real law school anyway...
ReplyDeleteAnyone know her?
ReplyDeleteHow does a run-of-the-mill local reporter get 14 Emmy nominations? Isn't that like almost every business in town having a banner that reads "Best of Las Vegas?"
ReplyDeleteYes, I know her. She's a great person and very smart.
