The best part, however, is the listing of Ten Most Wanted Individuals with Outstanding Traffic Fines (of whom the program has yet to bring in a single one):

Wow, $20,057 in unpaid traffic tickets. Anyone think those guys in the pink building can get Dave off with no points?
There should be some way to tie unpaid parking tickets and speeding tickets to the right to renew one's driver's license and vehicle registration. i.e. if you get a ticket and don't contest it but don't pay it, then you shouldn't be able to renew your driver's license.
ReplyDeleteIf you get one and schedule a hearing or attorney session then you don't yet owe the money so it would force people to either pay the tickets, setup a hearing to argue why they shouldn't have gotten it, or go to one of the many attorneys in town that will do tickets for free in exchange for the expectation of future business (Craig P. Kenny is my favorite because they do a great yearly party!)
I'm not a fan of parking tickets or speeding tickets, having gotten a LOT of them in the past few years, but if someone is truly getting parking tickets and their standard operating procedure is to ignore them, then there should be some way to force their hand.
Just my $.02
