Lt. Gov. Krolicki [finally] Indicted

They have been talking about it for weeks, but it looks like Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki was finally indicted yesterday. From the RJ:
A Clark County grand jury returned the indictment against Krolicki and his chief of staff, Kathy Besser, [yesterday] morning. Krolicki is charged with two counts of misappropriation and falsification of accounts by a public officer and two counts of misappropriation by a treasurer.
This probe couldn't have anything to do with Krolicki's decision to run for U.S. Senate against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, could it? Noooo, not in this state, never!

  1. Does anyone understand exactly what he's alleged to have done? Are they saying he pocketed money given to the state from Upromise and the brokerage firm? Is this outright theft of some sort of kickback? I've read the indictment and don't get it.

  3. Misappropriation is not embezzlement so they are not charging him with embezzling the money, i.e. theft of money while having legal possession of it. Basically he spent way too much to manage his office than was budgeted, and paid for a butt load of commercials advertising the college savings program featuring him coincidentally while he was running for an office.
