Tidbits

  • Remember that lady who grabbed and shoved a 3-year-old child for kicking the back of her seat on a Southwest Airlines flight last week? Yeah, she's one of ours. (FOX Phoenix; LV Now)

  • Our fantasy of having fantasies of a judicial ménage à trois has been crushed; our Supremes shot down Amber Candelaria's appeal. Think she'll take it up with SCOTUS? (LV Now)

  • Rumors are swirling that James Pisanelli and the "polarizing" Todd Bice may be leaving BHFS to start their own firm.

  • Our State Bar is "investigating" attorney Jacob Hafter, who happens to be a member of the State Bar's Southern Nevada Disciplinary Panel, for allegedly false comments he made regarding the possibility that Catherine Cortez Masto was being "investigated" by the State Bar. So cute how the RJ thinks our bar is capable of placing someone in the "hot seat." Lukewarm seat, maybe. (LVRJ)

  1. Todd an Jim are out of Shrecks office. Done deal. I hope they do well. they are great attys but I hope they lose the "attitude" that Frank S seems to have based a career on. Huge blow to Brownstien in the lv office.

  2. Mmmm. Jim Pisanelli. Mmmm. He's super hot for being an old dude.

  3. Bice: a smart-asshat

  4. Cherry and Saita dissented in the Amber decision. Go figure - a couple of hacks who were never qualified for their own positions try and juice in another idiot. Candelaria will be back, don't worry.

A few weeks ago she was described as a cross between Miley and Halverson - excellent description.

  6. How many attorneys have left Brownstien recently? That place is hemorrhaging lawyers.

  7. hahaha, looks like Foster threw "waste" at the child after shoving him.

But of course, she has denied any wrong doing. I would believe her if I hadn't seen how the rest of our Bar behaves.

  8. Jim is a good guy, but Bice is a waste of space blowhard.

  9. Be careful what you write about Hafter. My read on him would suggest that he would be one that would actually attempt to sue for defamation. For example, if you were to write something like

    Bice - smart = Hafter

and you were actually asserting it to be the truth (whereas I am just using it for illustrative purposes), then you might find yourself defending a defamation lawsuit.

  10. Hafter is a dick. Period. Truth is a defense and he is now a public figure.

  11. Foster's response as detailed in the Channel 8 story is very amusing.

Reads like a Bar Exam essay.

  12. Does this mean that Brownstein is looking to hire some newly minted attorneys? Inquiring (and, as of yet, unemployed) minds want to know!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Seeing as Brownstein lost two of its rainmakers - I wouldn't see it as a sign of hiring. Though the NV bar website does list them as looking for a litigation associate (probably posted before Pisanelli and Bice jumped ship).

  14. UNLV 3L,

Actually, just the opposite. Brownstein was in the process of hiring when Todd and Jim left. Jim's the rainmaker, so unless you're bringing a book of business with you, they're not hiring for at least a couple of months while they put their commercial lit department back together. Sorry.

  15. Okay, so no-go on BFHS. What about Jim and Todd?

    ReplyDelete
  16. UNLV 3L,

We'll see. They haven't set up their new shop yet, and I hear they took their favorite associates with them too. In a few months one or the other may be looking, but right now I don't think that's an avenue worth pursuing. Keep an eye on both of them, but it's a couple of months down the road.

  17. Hey 3L, shoot me a resume, I'm always looking for new talent - Troy Fox.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, Troy, you are. But 3L left out her stats.

  19. I used to work at Brownstein Hyatt when it was Schreck Brignone, and I thought both Jim and Todd were excellent attorneys--two of the best I worked with, they really taught me a lot. Their departure has to be quite a loss to Brownstein.

  20. 3:50 PM: Hey, if you want to slobber on Bice's knob, do it in private, please. Revolting.

  21. Yes, Mr. Higdon, the purpose of this comment section is to post anonymous attacks on others. How dare you post something kind and, even worse, use your real name!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Poor Amber, she will have to show the same perseverence Miley and Halverson showed. I know you have it in you, girl. Stay the course!

I'll call in a song for you on 106.5 tonight. "Fat Bottom Girls Make the World Go Round."

    Dance, baby, DANCE! Woohoo!

  23. @ 4:33 -

Higdon graduated 1st in his class and is now a professor. Don't be a hater and don't be jealous over the fact that you couldn't hold his jock-strap let alone wear it.

Let me forecast your response ..... "@ 7:47, if you want to slobber on Higdon's knob, do it in private, please. Revolting."

That's why everyone thinks we're all a bunch of pricks. Someone makes a positive comment about one of their friends/colleagues, and some douche-bag like yourself makes a comment about giving head...ya prick.

  24. 11:46 is a filthy lie. Troy Fox needs no help. When Troy Fox moves the court, the court does what he tells them to do. Troy Fox then puts the courthouse back.

  25. Say what you will haters, but my shop has had cases against Bice and Co. We got our asses handed to us. Then, they were handed to us a second time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Todd Bice doesn't know his a** from his elbow.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bice is a tool with no personality. That being said, he is a damn good advocate for his clients.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 7:53 PM - I apologize. It seemed funny at the time. Now I see how rude it was.

    Bice is a tool though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So is Higdon gay? Come one we all are wondering!

    ReplyDelete
  30. 4:52,

Why does it matter? Were you hoping you'd have a chance to slobber on his knob, and want to know if your gender is even in the right ballpark?

Or perhaps you are just a member of that rather large club who are unworthy to hold Higdon's jockstrap, and just want to know if you can try?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, I wish I could be as awesome as Higdon.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 7:33,

But if you were, people would ask weird questions about you in a public forum. Can you just imagine?

"So, anyone have the scoop on 7:33? Does 7:33 go Brazilian, or what?"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hafter is a total asshat, in my opinion. Easily the most unwarranted arrogant attorney I know.

    ReplyDelete
  34. So is Bice leaving or not?
