Clark County Voters defeat Heavyweight Insanity

Wow! Apparently Clark County voters recognize bat-shit crazy when they see 2 tons of it pouring out of a personal scooter.
JUDGE HALVERSON IS OUT!!! Less news for this blog, more respect for Nevada's judiciary.
The Review-Journal reports:

While the Judicial Discipline Commission weighs the fate of embattled District Judge Elizabeth Halverson, voters delivered their own verdict Tuesday, deciding Halverson must go.

Halverson, who faces complaints of falling asleep on the bench and harassing her staff, received less than 10 percent of the vote, trailing opponents Stefany Miley and Jason Landess, who will move to the general
election in November.

A woman who declined to give her name as she walked out of Ruth Fyfe Elementary School said she and her husband specifically showed up at the polls to voice their displeasure with Halverson. The couple called her "goofy."

"I voted against her because of the recent happenings, her health issues [ha ha ha ha]... everything," the woman said. Voter Barbara Lloyd said she too wanted to be sure Halverson wasn't re-elected. "I want her out of office," Lloyd said. "I haven't been impressed with her at all."

Stefany Miley leads the voting and will head into a run off with Jason Landess in November.
R.I.P. Halverson's Nevada legal career. Who the hell would hire her after this? Maybe she'll just scooter off into the sunset.

  1. About damn time. Although, just like Al Gore no longer being the VP, losing Halverson will make the news that much less interesting...

  2. Actually, Halverson did get 10,000 of LV's "finest" citizens to vote for her, which will make a fine client base when she returns to private practice.

I am seeing maybe an ADA/employment practice specializing in discrimination against weight challenged heavy equipment operators, pit bosses, train engineers, airline pilots, and others who sleep on the job for health reasons.

If that fails, Halverson is still admitted as an attorney in CA. Or, “Evil Ed” can always return to his former profession.

It must really stick in Halverson's craw to lose 60% of the vote to thin, pretty, 37 year old Miley--who is not exactly known as the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

Not to mention finishing 20 points behind a degenerate gambler who once lost $2 million in one sitting at the black jack tables.

    Ouch!

The real issue is, what do we now do for laughs? At Above the Law, they are calling August 12 “The Day Legal Comedy Died”. How sad.

LAS VEGAS – A disciplinary hearing resumes Thursday for a suspended Nevada state judge who lost a bid for re-election when she placed third in Tuesday's primary.
Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson still faces allegations that could get her banned from ever serving as a judge in Nevada again.

Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline official said Wednesday the election results have no effect on hearings about whether Halverson mishandled trials, mistreated staff and fell asleep on the bench.

Her hearings began last week. She blames vindictive colleagues and disgruntled employees for the complaints.

  5. hopefully she'll know it's her time and like an aging Inuit, she will wander (i.e. roll on her scooter) out into the desert to die.

  6. Anon 11:46,
I'm sure you could call the GLA office directly and infer your answer based on their response to your question! That would be funny, instead of "In a wreck? Need a check?" you'd hear "Been elected? Then rejected? Call Glen Lerner." He can put a chain around his neck and lie next to Halverson's chair, reprising the role of Lei.

  7. I for one feel that the woman named by the RJ in 2008 as Las Vegas' most colorful citizen is going to land on her feet (or at least all 4 wheels).

I see a substantial cult following, for starters, as a columnist perhaps. (I for one, need my weekley Halverson fix.)

On thing for sure, she was WAY ahead of the curve on the whole electric vehicle thing...

  9. Well, according to Glen Lerner, they "think big."

    She'd be perfect.
