Once again, the nicest guy in P.I. is preparing to host one of the biggest lawyer shindigs of the year. This years CPK "Open House" is this coming Friday (10/08/10) at 5:00 PM. Live music will be provided by Acoustic Soul, followed by a D.J. for those of you who like to shake a leg. Grub will be provided by Chino & Antonio's Pizza.
For those of you new to the scene, Craig's parties are a great place to eat, drink and walk that thin line that separates debauchery from disbarment. But seriously, there is no better networking opportunity for those of you seeking to make some law-friends. Pictures from last year's festivities are available here.

ReplyDeleteI have found that where you went to law school doesn't mean sh*t. I went to a first tier school, but that doesn't mean I'm a millionaire. All that matters is passing the bar, finding a non construction defect related job, and watching the $$ roll in. Double kickstands and bluetooth douchebags bitches!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to do PI (which can be very lucrative, especially given the effort level required), then where you went to law school really does not matter.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to practice business litigation or other more complex, sophisticated areas of the law, then where you went to law school will have much more of an impact--especially earlier in your career in opening doors and landing jobs.
On average, smarter people tend to get into the better schools, and smarter, more educated people tend to be better attorneys in the end. It's not rocket science, and there are always many exceptions to this general rule.
Either path can provide a comfortable living. It's whatever motivates you to get out of bed in the morning. Personally, I couldn't practice law if I had to do PI.

ReplyDeleteActually, I am a partner at one of the bigger firms in town (I guess it would be considered "biglaw" for Vegas), and I, personally, enjoy doing real business work that challenges me instead of slinging PI cases. I have a great time and do quite well in the comp department too, thanks.
My point was to each his own and that where you went to law school can matter in certain contexts more than others. Best of luck to you whatever area of practice you may find yourself in and I hope that JD from your dogshit school takes you far.

5:06 here. I don't have any statistics...just a simple observation. But now that someone else mentioned it, yeah I suppose the majority of female attorneys (at least those that have been prcaticing for 3 or more years) also seem to be single.
