As we previously noted, Jerry O'Connell is going to play Marc Saggese, while Jim Belushi will take on Michael Cristalli's persona.
If you are a fan of any of the following shows: "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Ghost Whisperer," "Cold Case," "Miami Medical," "Numb3rs," "Gary Unmarried" and/or "Accidentally on Purpose," send your hate mail to Marc & Michael ... or Daniel Dae Kim, who is apparently staring in a remake of Hawaii Five-O (we miss Lost already).
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler had this to say about the plot of the still-unnamed legal comedic drama:
"It's more of a bromance than a conventional legal drama."
A "bromance?" Between Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi? Okey dokey. Put us down for one episode ... we'll see how bromantic this gets. What do you guys think they should name it?
(AP; Thanks, Tipster!)
name it "the peckerwood brief"

ReplyDeleteSomething tells me that when CBS wants to make a *comedy* based on your firm - and not a courtroom drama - people are laughing AT you, not with you.

They can cast Snooki to play a temp secretary.
Maybe I missed it from the last discussion, but how in the world did they decide to do a show on this firm? Someone enlighten me please...
ReplyDelete"Hey, Isnt's That the Fat Kid From 'Stand By Me' and John Belushi's Untalented Brother?"
ReplyDeleteIf the networks are willing to make a tv sitcom based on the Geico Cavemen, they're probably crazy/desperate enough to look to the Las Vegas legal community for ideas. I would probably watch a show based on the antics of 'The Heavy Hitter.'
ReplyDeleteF*ck a comedy. Lets have lawyers face off in MMA fights. According to his profile Saggese is a professional boxer with all first round knockouts.

Tell me you wouldn't like to see him square off against the Western European Martial Artist (and eagle scout) Patrick Driscoll.

I watched that Miami Medical once. The actors were so wooden I got splinters. This law comedy about has to be better, even if just by default.
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer watching Tony Liker box defendants.
ReplyDeleteMakin' Vegas attorneys proud. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteFrom their website:
ReplyDeleteOur Nevada, Las Vegas law firm is based on experience, integrity and aggressive representation. Whether it be for your automobile accident, your slip and fall, your mortgage mediation issues, or a recent arrest or pending criminal case against you – we take pride in producing results…the results you want and the results you request from us.
We aggressively represent ALL of our clients in Auto Accidents, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Dental Malpractice, Slip and Fall, Strict Products Liability, Wrongful Death, Family Matters, Sealing of Criminal Records, and Nevada Mortgage Mediations.
Can't you just see the drama here? And you wonder why lawyers elsewhere think so poorly of our bar?
Again, everything some people touch turns to gold while other more talented people slave and toil for nothing
ReplyDeleteYou can put me down for TiVo'ing an episode. When will it be on?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Marc and Michael. I can tell that many attorneys who have commented are good at tearing others down. I think it is a very sad part of our profession that the only way we can feel good about ourselves is to knock others down. If anyone else in Las Vegas was going to have a TV show based on their firm they would be proud and rightfully so. But because this show is for Marc and Michael, some wish to take a swipe. Sorry, but that's crass. I can't wait for the day when members of our profession wish to elevate the discussion; not drag it into the gutter.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous! I'm a dumbass why can't they make a show about me? At least now when we laugh at their buffoonary we're being supportive and not rude. How many episodes will be based on banging paralegals?
ReplyDeleteI agree with 7:24. I remember when fellow attorneys supported other lawyers good fortune, or even goofy pranks. Now all we hear is smart- ass comments. The newer lawyers seem to be a bunch of self-centered losers whose only enjoyment is making fun of others who are actually doing something. Grow up
ReplyDeleteWait I have a better one.
ReplyDeleteThe Miley's were approached last year to make a "reality" TV show.
They liked "sloppy" the attorney and "Big Bird" the judge. They were talking to them about it.
Randy wanted to do it in the worst way (he would make more money than what he does now....) but Mrs. Miley (head of the family) said no - thought it wouldn't be approved by the Judicial Board and it would make her look bad.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Make her look bad? Honey you can't get worse than you are now.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
The short lived series "LV Law," circa 2006, featured the late James "Bucky" Buchanan. More recently, a television production company plans to shoot a reality series centered on the lawyers and clients at the Richard Harris Law Firm and it's Ticket Busters and Defenders divisions.
ReplyDelete7:24 - Christalli and Saggese are fantastic at marketing, great at convincing new clients that they are the best attorneys, and wonderful at making money. What they suck at is practicing law, properly investigating cases, and competently representing clients. They've earned every bit of ridicule that they receive, and then some.
ReplyDeleteIf someone had a t.v. show about Don Campbell or Rick Wright or any of the thousands of other attorneys in this town who value substance over show, this discussion would not have this tone. Cristalli and Saggese are assholes and deserve the ridicule.
7:24 & 8:26. I think you're a bit high brow for this blog. Perhaps you can start your own blog for perpetually constipated lawyers who need help learning to laugh at themselves, and others.
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
One of those newer self-centered loser lawyers.
Bucky's "LV Law" was a fantastic watch.
ReplyDeleteBucky's show was great but I heard he actually paid to have it aired.
ReplyDeleteI liked that show on Sundance about LV Law, although I only remember the Dominic Gentile episode. Sadly, I don't remember who the DA in the case was. Whatever happened to that show?
ReplyDeleteForget Hawaii Five-O. The Shark Pimp wants to see a re-boot of Hawaiian Eye - in black & white and still set in 1959.
ReplyDeleteI heard Bucky got $5 million for the show.
ReplyDeleteI heard that Bucky had to pay $500 million to make $5 million on the show.
ReplyDeleteNot really, but since we're just tossing around random "I heard" statements, why not join the completely without credibility party.
I heard that I never watched Bucky's show.
ReplyDeleteI work at CBS. The show is going to be called The Defenders and here's a preview -- http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview_2010/?pid=ABT0vMBhqOUMI2w9ILBxmP9aCM_zT5Uw&vs=Default&play=true

ReplyDeleteOooh, impressive. Our random blowhard musings being monitored by CBS. Cool, maybe WWL will make it into the script at some point in time.
ReplyDeleteI can see it now....random associate at "The Defenders" makes some lame assertion about a "gunner" from law school anonymously on this local legal tabloid blog. Or better yet, making remarks about "hitting" one of the so called "hot" judges sitting on the bench and some smart remark about her husband and the dog.
Doing southern Nevada proud.
8:16 - Please get your facts straight before making such assertions. You are way off, but good guess.
ReplyDelete10:22, who peed in your Cheerio's™ this morning?
ReplyDeleteMind filling me in on the "factual assertions" made?
As I read it, there was conjecture on what a would be cast member in the law office of the defenders could do reflective of what takes place on this blog on a daily basis.
dont be player haters. those two d-bags are lucky they gots a show made about them. i would prefer to see a show about construction defect though.
