Yesterday, a Clark Co. grand jury subpoenaed the state's medical board for the records of any complaints lodged against Dr. "Needles" Desai and Endoscopy. (Review-Journal) In response, the board says it will provide the records to the Las Vegas police.
Acting general counsel for the state medical board says the board had delayed in releasing the records because of concerns that Nevada statute mandated the records remain confidential.
But after Scott Mitchell, Clark County chief deputy district attorney, said the medical board had refused to turn over any of the confidential complaints it has received about Desai, Mr. Clark responded, “My reaction is that Scott Mitchell is a liar, and he’s unethical and unprofessional.” (Las Vegas Sun) He continued by stating Mitchell’s allegation that the medical board has not cooperated with police is “a (expletive) lie!” Clark said, adding, “Quote me.”
Meanwhile, Las Vegas officials decided to put the $500,000 in fines received from Endoscopy Center towards testing for impoverished former patients of Endoscopy Center (Review-Journal)
