Lewis Brisbois, Now With 25% Less Fat!

Word on the street is that local insurance defense firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith just lost a quarter of their associates and one partner to Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker. You may remember Lewis Brisbois as one of the firms on the defense end of The Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada case.

The Las Vegas managing partner of Wilson Elser has reportedly been replaced by a partner from Lewis Brisbois. We are still working on getting the name of the former Lewis Brisbois partner/now managing partner for Wilson Elser. If you know who he/she is, or what happened, let us know in the comments. We want details people!

(Thanks, LE!)

  1. Mike Edwards left and took 4 other partners with him. He left all of the associates in his "department" high and dry.

  2. Actually, two associates have already left with Mr. Edwards with rumors that more might leave soon. Mr. Edwards also took all the paralegals in his group and the support staff.

I am a fan of attorneys that value us support staff.

  4. Who is the managing partner for Wilson Elser's Vegas office. Is that partner getting the boot? The only partners there are Gloria Sturman and Kym Cushing. Wonder if they're both getting canned.

  5. Gloria is or was the managing partner at Wilson Elser. Her and Kym go back together to the Edwards Hale Sturman and Cushing days.

  6. Word is that Sturman was the Managing Partner and she's been demoted, with Edwards taking her place.

  7. Not a bad deal for Edwards.

  8. Unbelievable! I've had numerous dealings with Edwards over the years. Decent enough guy, but I cannot believe that Wilson Elser would take someone from outside the firm, untested, to replace a managing partner. It seems reckless.

  9. Edwards has been "managing" his own group for years. This new position is nothing new for him. Too bad LBBS didn't recognize the role he played in growing their firm.

  10. Agreed. Although Andrew Cass is the managing partner of LBBS in Vegas, Edwards ran the CD group there. He's definitely qualified to lead the group. Undoubtedly the other partners leaving with him are the CD group (Khan, Rameriz, and Arledge).

  11. Actually Edwards ran the General Liability Group at LBBS. In that group he had some attorneys practicing CD and design professional work, but the group was also strong in employment law, professional liability, real estate law, business litigation and personal injury defense. If that group took their clients with them then that new firm is going to be a powerhouse in the insurance defense market.

  12. My dad (Edwards) rocks! He is such an amazing guy and his family loves him very much <3

P.S. Dad, if your reading this, I would enjoy some new rims for my car :)

  13. Edwards' group is at least nine attorneys which will almost double the size of Wilson Elser in Vegas.

  14. Don't forget Sheri Thome who does mostly employment. She is now listed as a partner at Wilson Elser.

  15. Edwards and his group left in a similar way when they left the Las Vegas office of Morris Polich & Purdy a few years ago.
