  1. I"m a little confused. I've never seen an advertisement (either television or billboard) for Vannah, has anybody else?? How can they be in this "tournament"? Also, since most of these are PI firms, is there any question what the best PI firms in Vegas are? (hint: they share a floor in the same building)

  2. 9:34 AM -

Vannah and MEC the "best PI firms"? Please spare us. Perhaps they are best at swindling their own clients, perpetrating fraud, and raising money for judges' re-election campaigns in oredr to curry favor with those same judges. But are those really the criteria by which we want PI firms evaluated?

  3. If you are talking about skill, I think Harrison Kemp Jones would be the best PI firm.

  4. Sounds like we'll need another poll for best Plaintiff's firm.

As for the inclusion of Vannah and Vannah, we thought it was a little odd, but included it at reader suggestion.

V&V may lose this one due to lack of billboard/television presence, but we're expecting them to perform well in the best Plaintiff's firm poll.

  5. We need an opinion poll of the most corrupt firm - and maybe a separate one for the most juiced firm in vegas. It would be fun to see how others in the legal field feel about our colleagues.

  6. so exciting

    What's the betting line?

  7. @10:03 I take it you're an insurance defense attorney? Phil Emerson, is that you??? And no, I do not work for either V&V or MEC. However, to argue that they are not great (or, even the best in the area) at what they do, is a little disingenuous. If you don't like them fine, but at least be honest with yourself.

You're absolutely right. Vannah and MEC are great at pressuring doctors to lie for them, ripping off their clients, paying kickbacks to Howard Awand, convincing their clients to obtain medical care under rip-off lien agreements, and engaging in litigation and discovery abuse. Honest.

  10. So when they get large verdicts in other states, are they guilty of corrupting those out-of-state doctors as well? Have they corrupted the whole country?? Interesting. I'm still assuming you are an insurance defense attorney. After all, insurance companies are the good guys, right? They're our buddies, right. Any they don't ever use any defendant-friendly physicians to testify (some may say lie, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) for them, right?

  11. I've worked on both sides of the personal injury table. Vannah's office is notorious for turning non injuries into spinal surgeries and morphine pumps or spinal stimulators. I think MEC is slimy and I personally dislike the M and the E of that firm, but they are very good at what they do. Vannah's office I actually like most of the attorneys, but a large portion of their cases are fraudulent, and it doesn't seem to bother them.

It bothers me when PI clients want me to pursue claims that are clearly non-existent, but it seems like at V&V they sign them up and send them to Kabins (or Olivieri and Muir, now that Kabins is off the table).

  12. How about a blog about the TV attorneys who get bashed in court? Last week I saw David Krieger get based in Bankruptcy Court by Judge Markell for his fifth or sixth late filed Opposition on the same day. (On the bright side, at least he has classy ads - too bad it doesn't translate to paralegal management.)

  13. The real issue here is how experts are all whores. Medical experts usually construe the evidence in favor of whoever retains them, although they are more interested in protecting other doctor so their testimony isn't completely horrible.

The most "whorish" experts are Construction Defect ones, but that's just a byproduct of that area of law. Have you ever seen a more worthless attorney than a CD associate? My favorite are the d-bags who call Litigation Services their second home. Congratulations, you've "partcipated" (warm body) in hundreds of deposition, but you still don't know how to lay foundation or make a proper objection.

  14. 9:34- I can respect your opinion, even if I don't agree with it (in whole, at least). I will say, though, that there is an awful lot of talk about how fraudulent and shady these two firms are, but a very aggressive U.S. Attorneys Office has had over six years and plenty of man power to bury V and E, and have yet to indict either. So, either they are very good at what they do (in another sense, i.e. covering themselves :) ), or there is less to it than people are trying to make. To be honest, I don't know which it is. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and let the system work how it is supposed to.

1:46: I completely agree with you. Anybody who tries saying that one side's experts are more noble than the other is fooling themselves. It's unfortunate.

  15. I was wondering, when lawyers workout, do they always wear suits?

Jerry "Jaws" Weise does. C'mon Jerry, get real, eh?

  16. Half Price Lawyers is impressive because they have been creating quite a stir in this ultra-competitive legal market although only advertising for around 2 weeks. That should qualify them as some of the best advertisers around.

  17. Tone it down, Stokes. You're giving yourself away...

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ 1:34...let me guess, Richard Harris associate, right? Now who is giving oneself away?

FYI...Ticketbusters and Richard Harris are the same firm. Ticketbusters is a division of Harris. Come on, do some research, would ya? The pink building that was nominated is Ticket Terminators, NOT Ticketbusters.

  19. @1:46 Agree as to the second part. I can think of a few worthless CD PARTNERS... I'll let the masses speculate.
