Palmer & Assoc. v. C. Conrad Claus (the last match of round one)--ends 7/11 at 5 p.m.

I hope you saved up some energy readers, because our favorite match up so far is the last match up of the first round: attack dog v. sword wielding legal warrior.

6. Palmer & Assoc.
We have to confess that we love Palmer & Assoc.'s attack dog ad campaign. Outside of the world of business law, many clients seem to want aggressive representation--the proverbial "pit bull" attorney. That's why we think P&A's ad campaign works so well. Who cares if they're any good? The marketing suggests ferocious representation that will latch on to the leg of a D.A. (criminal defense) or Insurance Defense counsel (personal injury) and not let go. The best part? P&A also handles dog bite cases.

Feel like the attack dog ad is too over-the-top? Well, P&A has a second website (www.accidentattorneysoflasvegas.com) for those who may not want to hire a snarling dog for their legal representation. And in true braggart plaintiff's attorney fashion, the accident attorney website has a section flashing the judgment amounts that the firm has secured in prior cases.

Need further proof of the firm's quality? It has a 100% approval rating on Best of the Web [based on one "thumbs up" out of one total votes]

v.

11. C. "Law is War" Conrad Claus
In the other corner, the sword-wielding legal warrior. If you had to choose a lawyer to back you in a street fight, it would have to be C. Conrad Claus ("CCC"). First, there's the bald head. Then, there's the intimidating glare and his former history as a cop. Finally, there's the black shirt and black suit--the classic dress combo for the bad ass and the mafia.

Combine that with the fact that CCC's website is lawiswar.com and we expect that District Attorneys going up against CCC quake after a hard fought motion to suppress, worried that Mr. Claus might follow them to their cars. The man's website is decorated with a sword, after all and has a rolling list of the reduced penalties he's claims credit for obtaining for clients.

CCC is a former cop and former Deputy District Attorney. He may not advertise up and down I-15, but he's certainly got a large media presence. He's been a national legal commentator (ABC News interview on OJ and Judge Glass, appearance with 4:34 remaining) and has made appearances on local news (video clip available here). Our favorite line from the local story: "leave [Charles] Free, free".

  1. When do you anticipate these adolescent polls will be over (it just reeks of "Dude, between He-Man and Captain America, who would win???")? I usually visit this blog daily but now that it's so heavily populated with this silliness, I'm going to pass until it's all over. Can you give us an expected date when that will be?

  2. The only think DAs fear about Conrad is if they stay awake during one of his arguments. That man speaks slowly...

Are you the same person who gripes about every poll on this site? Seriously, give it a rest. I come to this blog specifically because of the "adolescent" nature of it.

Do you really think WWL cares if you "visit the blog daily?" Do you see any advertising on this site? Go away for a while then check back in, but don't feel the need to notify the rest of us who are enjoying the blog when you do (inevitably) come back.

Stop bitching about the polls and get back to billing. That is all.

P.S. LE - Love the polls!

We should be done in about two more weeks. But round one ended today, so it will be a more reduced tournament coverage as the weeks progress.

We will be back to the regularly-scheduled juvenile antics in about two weeks.

I grew up on comics and cartoons. My older brother loved He-Man. So, to answer your sarcastic question: He-Man would win. He's dreamy.

  6. I have never seen incompetence in the courtroom comparable to that of Palmer during motion practice one day...just awful. He could have been having a bad day, but ouch.

  7. Palmer's been a lawyer too long to be as poor a lawyer as he is. You'd think he would have learned a few basics by now. Plus, he's kind of a jerk.

Conrad is a real character. He packed weapons in a padlocked canvas bag while in law school. Serious. He's a genuine, unapologetic libertarian. Make him your friend. You want him on your side.

And hey, @7:13, no one's holding a gun to your head. Go back to TMZ.com if you aren't happy here.

  8. Conrad is a martial arts guy too. I know he used to fight quarterstaffs or something similar ala Friar Tuck and probably other weapons as well. Can you imagine how much damage he could do with a big stick? He also was training for a Strongest Man Contest but I don't know what happened with that. These tidbits are from several years ago. He is also a genuinely nice man/good guy, sort of a gentle giant.

  9. All true statements, except for @7:13. CCC is quite a guy, yes, and a good attorney.

I will vote for him every time. He's the only one with originality among ALL the advertisements. Shark, dog, we sue DUI . . . come on. But LawIsWar.com, with a sword on his business card, he is the man.

  10. Palmer is as bad as they say, probably worse. Say it with me kids - MALPRACTICE.

  11. Could someone please give an example of Palmer's faults? I don't know the guy and have never seen him in court. I'm just curious.

  12. I don't know how any one can say Palmer is a bad attorney you don't go up to the supreme court with a 8.2 million dollar verdict against courtesy motors and win if you are a bad attorney. I have worked in his office a while now and he truly cares about his clients. In fact he had a client who had back surgery and could clean his house Mr. Palmer went over and cleaned it for him. As far as track record is concerned in 27 years he has only lost 2 cases. Ask any attorney in town and they will tell you that Mr. Palmer is a great attorney and they have a lot of respect for him.

Shut it... I like the polls. Where else would we get information such as finding out that Mr. Palmer moonlights as a maid?

The shut it comment courtesy of Doug Hefernen

*Disclaimer -- the spelling for Dougie's last name might be incorrect. I didn't bother to check.

  14. Conrad is the guy to vote for - he will tell it like it is, and fight for you with everything he has. The cable news stations use him a lot for legal analyst gigs because they can see he is up and coming.

  15. I enjoy the fact that the Attorney who has won this poll (CCC Esq.), does not presently advertise via television, billboards, or classified periodicals (i.e. Yellowpages).

    And what?
How many attorneys are currently in his firm?
    -One.
    C. Conrad Claus.

  16. Congratulations to CCC for taking down the attack dog.

    CCC (215 votes; 61%)
    Palmer & Assoc. (133 votes; 38%)

  17. The billboard/television polls will end on August 3. Since the polls are part of a bracket competition, they will continue until a winner is chosen on Aug 3. A significant number of readers are voting in the polls and visiting daily to read them, so the tournament will continue until completion.

That said, for readers who don't enjoy the polls, WWL would suggest that you merely read the other postings. We haven't decreased the number of daily posts in order to hold the tournament. If there have been fewer posts on law firms or other gossip, that's because it's a slow news cycle with most firms and associates hunkered down due to the economy.

As always, if you have thoughts on something we're not covering that we should be, we appreciate receiving tips at nevadalegal@gmail.com.

  18. C. Conrad Claus is amazing. His record is impressive.

  19. The only problem I have with Conrad is that there aren't more like him.
