Why do lawyers always announce they're attorneys in personal ads?

We spend a lot of time reading Craigslist personal ads. There are few things more entertaining than people's descriptions of themselves and their desires when they really want to hook up with someone in Vegas.

But, Why? Why? Why do attorneys always have to mention that they're attorneys when trying to pick someone up:
Visiting Professional seeking BBW - m4w (Wynn) 37yr

from CL-Vegas-Cas Encoutners ("lawyer")
Hi there. My name is Allen. I’m 37years old, form LA and a lawyer, but otherwise a nice person. I’m in Vegas for a few days for work, and would love to share some very kinky play with a very nasty girl. Please be reasonably clever and totally uninhibited. Age and appearance are not important, (but I do prefer bigger girls). Attitude is.
On a side note, God, I love Vegas.

  3. Doesn't seem that odd to me. A personal add seems like a place to tell people about yourself. Your career is a major part of a person's life, and seems like information somebody they are "trying to pick up" may be interested in.

  4. I'd have to agree with the above 3:46p comment - the guy doesn't want to say "I'm looking for girls who will do additional things based on how much I pay them." By saying he's an attorney he's saying he has expendable cash, combined with the rest of his post, he has plausible deniability against a solicitation of prostitution charge...

  5. Attorney is code for transvestite on the interwebs. A-turn-ee.

  6. Do you really not understand why? Women typically look for men who can provide and men typically look for looks (at first). What, I should lie and say I work at Quickie-lube?

  7. In a similar vein, why do women with good figures often wear clothes that accentuate their figures?

  8. I am not sure why men use the "I'm an attorney" pick up line. Its the same as saying "I lie for a living", and hints at a questionable character and entitlement issues. Along with some substance abuse and unhealthy eating habits in the possible future. I work in this field and my one rule of dating is to NEVER date an attorney. I urge all of my friends not to as well, especially in this town. This guy is the quintessential "Vegas Douche Bag". That's a legal term ;) My guess is that he's very close to hiring a prostitute if he hasn't already. Craigslist is a last ditch effort.

  9. 9:53 = ugly, bitter para-legal. I'm guessing 40's, heavy, and single (divorced).
