  1. Some of those lawyers deserve to be on the list, but others prove why such lists are a joke. I am not going to name names, but if you have worked against a few of those lawyers you know they are no better than the average 4th year attorney.

  2. Agree with 11:38. Some on this list are a complete joke. What are the qualifications to be on this list--payment of a fee? Get others in your firm to nominate you? Whatever.

  3. I find SuperLawyers to be much, much more accurate than Martindale-Hubbell. I'm listed in SuperLawyers, I have an AV rating in M-H and I'm in Best Lawyers in America. I generally go to Best Lawyers in America when I need someone who is really good. Otherwise I go to SuperLawyers over M-H to make a referral.

The great thing about SuperLawyers is that it also has a Rising Stars category to take care of the really good younger lawyers who get shut out of M-H even though some of them are way better than a lot of the older A-V rated lawyers.

Certainly, in all polls, they're subjective so there are some who should be listed who aren't and some who are listed who shouldn't be listed. It sucks for those who should be listed but aren't. That's why the best referral is of someone with whom you have had a positive experience regarless of whether they're in SuperLawyers.

  6. I'm a Rising Star and have no idea how the process works. Still though, maybe it'll help me get my "BV" rating from MH.

Hey LE, how about some love for the Rising Stars?!? :)
